How the
Retreat Works?
At the
Martha’s Vineyard Spa Retreat the approach is holistic. At
the Retreat we address each major factor that impacts your
health, beauty and well being -- your body, mind and
emotions. Our program is sequential in the steps taken
throughout the healing process. It is a total detoxification
process that enables you to purge your body of the physical
toxins and your mind of the emotional toxins which
prevent your body’s immune system from continuously
producing the millions of healthy cells you need for
day-in/day-out strength and vitality.
As you drive towards the Martha's Vineyard Spa Retreat you
will feel a sense of community, and a taste of Island life
embraces you as you enter the quaint New England towns of
Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs straight off the ferry.
When you enter the Retreat you are greeted by an old trunk
in which you leave your old thoughts and/or stresses. Then
you will be invited by your health educator, and your
hostess/therapist to a tour of the Retreat. You will
experience a total sense of tranquility as you tour the
Victorian style inn where most of your therapies will take
place. On sour first day at the Retreat you will be invited
to a welcome reception where you will meet other guests
retreating at the Inn. Welcoming remarks will include a
history of the Island and discussions of program specifics.
Then you will slip away in your healing space to unwind for
the evening.
There will be much needed information to assist you in the
total process while you are at the Retreat.
Each morning of your retreat you will wake up to the
soothing sounds of music such as the Gregorian Chants, to
aid in relieving stress. Music therapy is applied as a
therapeutic cleansing intervention. Stress is a major toxin
that causes overworked and fatigued muscles that are
overloaded with metabolic waste. The sound of music works at
the bioenergetic centers of the brain to relax and release
negative emotions lodged in the psyche.
You will
put on comfortable clothing, wear no shoes, and be joined by
the other guests at the breakfast nook for your first
detoxification cocktail with wonderful tasting fresh or
organic juices, teas, fresh fruits and garnishes. Now you
are ready to join either the yoga, massage, polarity, Reiki
or meditation therapist for non-invasive detoxifying types
of sessions. These therapies are applied from the outset to
assist in faster elimination of metabolic waste as well as
to stimulate your nerve supply and cell activity.
The health educator will give you the tools you will need to
make the most of your Retreat experience. You will fill out
a detailed profile on your health to assist the therapist in
your overall cleansing program.
Lunch will consist of enticing raw and fermented foods with
more raw juices, (especially wheat grass juice), which are
the key to healing and detoxing at the Retreat. The
Naturopath or nutritionist will be there to discuss the
healing benefits of raw and fermented foods and their role
in longevity and health.
The afternoon therapies are individualized according to your
Retreat menu (filled out earlier), the window schedule or
the specially designed program worked out with your
therapist. You can choose from the following therapies:
Our major focus is physical and emotional cleansing. You may
be involved in a specific cleanse such as parasite, liver,
gallbladder, kidney or colon cleansing which are
comprehensive
Because you are visiting Martha’s Vineyard Island, we will
offer you every planned opportunity to engage in Island
pursuits. During the early evening you can partake in a
health food store field trip, Island tour, community spa
pass, walking trails, a specific Island event or tourist
attraction. The evening is a perfect time to take that
stroll to some of the quaint towns on the Island of Martha’s
Vineyard.
Dinner time meals are bursting with flavorful soups, and
juices that are enzyme rich to ensure total detoxification
and cleansing. It is important not to have cooked foods
during your physical and emotional cleanse program. You will
learn the theory behind a detoxification diet from the
naturopath or therapist.
Every evening before bed in your healing space you must end
with a cleansing procedure that is specifically designed for
your individual needs.
The evening cleanse may be one of the following: herbal
bath, mineral bath, water therapy, enemas, sauna, dry brush
massage or hydrocolon therapy.
Your healing space will be controlled with music and
aromatherapy.
Your entire environment will be peaceful. You can relax by
the fireplace in the winter, sit in a relaxing hot tub and
meditate, take the sunrise power walk before breakfast. We
make every moment of your stay peaceful so that a total
cleanse can take place.
